Briana Blasko was born in San Francisco and moved to New York City in 1995. She received a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1999 while simultaneously working at the Annie Leibovitz Studio. Currently a freelance dance and performance photographer for the New York Times, her work has also been published in Dance Magazine, Time Out New York, The Village Voice, The Miami Herald, New York Home, catalogs for Symphony Space and Dance Theater Workshop, and Sharmila Desai’s Sristi (published by Trolley Books in 2006). Also very active in the community, Ms. Blasko has done extensive volunteer work with Free Arts NYC, St. Vincent’s Hospital Psychiatry Department, The Ethical Cultural Society's Homeless Shelter and St. Anne’s Community Garden in the Bronx. She began volunteering with Breath of Hope in March 2006, when she traveled to Sri Lanka and Indonesia to document the foundation’s work in schools and orphanages.
